Characteristic #1: You know what type of person you need to hire for the job position.

This means that you should understand how important the job position is. The interviewer should have an idea about what type of person the company is searching for. As an interviewer, you would like to know if people would have the characteristics that can make them perfect.

Characteristic #2: Make an effort to research the candidate.

Remember that the candidate should not only know about the role that they would like to fulfill. They also have to know more details about the company in general. They may also want to know more about the candidates that are also vying for the same position. This will help them assess if there are some things that they can still improve especially if they really want the position.

The interviewer’s role is to do the same. The interviewer should know some details about the candidate that will be interviewed. This means checking out the CV ahead of time and learning some details that will help them come up with a more engaging interview. The more familiar you are with the interviewee’s details, the better that the conversation will flow.

Characteristic #3: Make sure to strike a conversation.

This is one of the problems that interviewers may have. They can start talking to the candidates and realize that there are a lot of lengthy pauses. You do not want to have an awkward interview with a potential candidate. A candidate that has a lot of promise may take this against your company.

How are you going to strike a conversation then? Like mentioned earlier, you would need to know a lot of details about the interviewee. The more that you know, the more that you can come up with some topics that are related to the position that will also engage the interviewee to say more.

Characteristic #4: Be a body language expert.

A lot of people disregard the importance of body language. This is going to be important even if you are doing a video interview. You can see on the video how the candidate reacts to your questions. There are some movements that will let you know if the candidate is nervous. You will also know if there are some things that the interviewee may be lying about. The more that you know about body language, the easier it will be for you to eliminate those who will not fill the job positions that are being offered.

Characteristic #5: You are able to sell the job position well.

Remember that the different applicants are also offering their skills elsewhere. Even if they would be a good fit for the position that you are offering, they may choose another job position over yours.

How will you be able to sell the job position? You need to show that there are different options that are available for them and the job that you are offering is the best one. Some of the things that you may offer are the following:

  •  How well the company will take care of its employees.

If the applicant will see these things, they might choose the job position that you are offering over all the others.
